Charley Harper (American, 1922–2007), a self-described “minimal realist,” defined his style by saying, “I don’t count feathers . . . I just count the wings.” With their distinctive use of simple geometric shapes, patterns, and vivid colors, Harper’s whimsical paintings have delighted art and animal lovers for more than six decades.
